JCFW 2016 2nd Featured Store is THE STORE!!
“The Store”—129 Monticello Ave. Jersey City 07304
An unparalleled enthusiast in the fashion world, Noreen Francis is a distinguished designer, stylist and humanitarian renowned for her effortless take on style and tireless movement to eradicate global hunger. Having immersed herself in fashion design for nearly two decades, Noreen combined her creative and humanitarian passions to birth her upcoming venture, The Store, a retail space housing the exclusive Noreen Francis Collection and offering a cross-section of designer labels and international brands at a fraction of the cost. A portion of proceeds from The Store are donated to MissionProject, a Jersey City–based organization founded by Noreen in 2011 to address the needs of orphan and disregarded children all over the world.
Raised in the Bronx, New York, Noreen was exposed at a very young age to the worlds of fashion, music and the harshness of global poverty. With her mother’s influence, innate style and desire to teach her children the power of giving, she developed both a very strong passion for design and the issues surrounding poverty. After studying Design at F.I.T. and the Art Institute, Noreen started her career as a fashion assistant at a New York based apparel start-up and was quickly promoted to Designer. She has since worked at such companies as Ralph Lauren, Nike, Perry Ellis, Donna Karan and Levi Strauss Co.
A staunch advocate for global hunger and the disregarded, Noreen’s Christian faith and benevolent upbringing was the catalyst in her undertaking a new challenge and pursuing global mission work more actively traveling throughout Africa and Asia during the year preparing meals at a village Soup kitchen, illustrating hygiene practices to prevent the spread and outbreak of disease, teaching orphaned school-age children basic reading, math, and spelling as well as providing clothing and basic essentials. Noreen believes giving is practical—“ It’s sometimes easy, more often inconvenient, but always necessary”. It’s the ability to use one’s position of influence, relative wealth and power to affect lives for the better. To give to others in need is a singular action highly achievable and beyond rewarding.
Noreen launched her eponymous contemporary collection in 2016. Drawing on vintage-inspired fabrics and silhouettes, her line is evocative of the clean and functional sensibility, which surrounds her life. The collection offers pieces for the modern and polished woman and man who is trend-conscious, loves fashion, functionality and is keen on the sustainability of the world.
